More Domestic Medicine; Less Imported Medicine

“Import of those medicine which are produced domestically in Iran, will be limited”, says Dr. Dinarvand, Head of Food and Drug Organisation of Iran. He announces that by the end of the sixth 5-year-development-plan, share of imported medicine to the country should not be more than 25%. Currently imported medicines make 70% of Iranian medicine market value, and 3% of total import. From volume point of view, however, imported medicines are only about 6% of medicine consumed, showing their high prices.

Most Popular Transportation Means in Norouz

During the two weeks Norouz holidays in Iran, 20 million passengers have travelled using extra-urban transportation, announces Mr. Abbas Akhundi, Minister of Roads and Urban Development. Nearly 8 million passengers have travelled on roads using buses and other means, making it the most popular choice. Harbour connections of Persian Gulf attracted more than 7 million travellers to use ship transportation. Number of flights have experienced a growth of 12%; three million people have chosen airplanes to travel, 23% of all flights were international. Railway transportation seems to be least popular: less than 2 million passengers have used trains.

Mobile Apps Hitting Mobile Operators

At the beginning of the new year, many people were used to send SMS to “congratulate Iranian new year”. Afterwards, telecommunication operators gave reports of how many SMS have been sent during this period, as a sign of their competencies Last year during Norouz, 19 billion SMS have been sent. However, as social medias get more popular in Iran, they hit mobile operators’ income by billion of Rials. This year none of the operators gave a report of the number of SMS’s. Instead as Mobile internet services get better and better, Data usage has been reached 700 Terabyte. This figure was 120 Terabyte during the same period a year ago.
