This year, 7% less water has flowed into the capital’s dams while 5% more water has flowed out of them. Shahrvand newspaper writes that the situation of the dams is critical. This year rainfall was 66% less than last year and Tehran snow reserves, which were at 1.5 meters last year are almost zero. The situation is no better throughout the country. More than half of the country’s dams have less than 40% water. The Ministry of Power has been unable to employ its two Antonov aircraft to seed the clouds due to the old age of the craft. Experts at the Ministry believe that seeding is only 15% effective. Although in the current situation, even that could be beneficial.
