Taadol quotes the Minister of Telecommunications, Mohammad Azar Jahromi, regarding violations by a number of websites which use the CPU of visitors to mine cryptocurrencies. Referring to this act as “Coding Theft”, Mr. Azar Jahromi has warned that in except for cases where the mining was a result of being hacked, websites found mining will face severe penalties by this Ministry. He also confirmed the selling of customer information to advertisers by a number of websites and network operators. A number of mobile network operators have accessed customers IP addresses in order to extract customers online habits which were then sold to advertisers for targeted ads and content creation. Taadol reports that the Ministry is gathering evidence to present the case to court.
