The price of steel will not rise until July 2018. Taadol writes of the complaints of the members of Tehran Chamber of Commerce who are downstream users of steel. In a letter to the Minister of Mining and Industries, Masoud Khansari, Head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce has pointed to the 20% increase in the price of steel in the past 2 months. This is surprising considering that steel production is entirely domestic and not reliant on the changes in the currency market. Members of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce believe that steel producers that are either governmental or semi-governmental prefer to export their product even at lower prices. As a result of these complaints, the Ministry of Mining and Industries has forbidden further price increase until July 2018.
