Tehran Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Centre

The Tehran Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Center opened in May 2017 in order to handle disagreements between organizations and corporations. In a meeting of Tehran Chamber of Commerce delegations, Dr. Bahman Eshghi, Secretary General of the Chamber explained: “Based on official figures, there are currently 15 million legal cases awaiting hearing in the Judiciary System out of which 4.5 million are from Tehran. It has been estimated that nearly half of the cases are related to the commercial sector and 1.5 to 2 million of those can be solved via arbitration centers.”

The creation of the Tehran Arbitration Center can speed up the process of handling these cases. “This center has allowed us to identify reputed entrepreneurs and businesses. Furthermore, we gain the ability to provide a fair hearing for members of the chamber”, added Dr. Eshghi.

“In a directive signed by the Vice President, all government sections have been instructed to officially recognize the ruling of the Arbitration Center in their contracts with the private sector”, aid Mohsen Bahrami, a delegate in the Chamber of Commerce.

A number of members of Tehran Chamber of Commerce have asked that the ruling of this Arbitration Center to be officially recognized by the Judiciary System so as to avoid further referrals to courts.

Asadollah Asgharoladi, President of Iran-China Chamber emphasized: “During the signing of contracts, if the Arbitration Center is stated as a reference, the Judiciary System as well as all courts must obey the ruling from the Chamber.”
