Production increases in some goods, despite market’s challenges

In spite of the rising currency exchange rate and markets being half-open, figures released by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trades show that in the case of some goods, production has increased.

Donya-e-Eghtesad has listed some of these goods. The production of buses, minibuses and vans has grown by 30%, soot by 15% and pickup trucks have grown by 11%. In addition, the production of laundry detergent has also grown by 11%.

On Tuesday, the Vice-President of Iran, Eshaq Jahangiri, visited the province of Kermanshah and expressed interest in developing border markets. It is expected that these goods can be sold at these markets in economic free zones.

However, the numbers show reductions in the production of 38 goods. Combines, air conditioners, washing machines, chipboard and television sets have experienced the greatest reductions. The manufacturing of combines fell by 77%, washing machines by 25% and television sets by 23%.

The increase in the price of raw material is one of the main concerns for manufacturers, writes Donya-e-Eghtesad. Many manufacturers admit that if the current pricing trends continue, they will face serious challenges. Furthermore, the long wait time for clearing goods, the majority of which are raw material, as well as the constant changing of customs regulations have led to a shortage of raw material.
