For the first time in nearly four decades, outline of the budget bill was rejected by the Parliament on Sunday, reports Bloomberg. Although the budget bill was partially revised by Parliament’s budget committee, however its framework was defeated by a vote of 120 to 83. Due to heavy snow in many cities of Iran, including Tehran which forced the airports to shutdown, nearly a third of the lawmakers were absent.
While Rouhani’s government struggles to attract foreign investments, now its national plans being influenced by the late protests makes it more difficult to revive the economy, says the report. Within three business days from Monday, the committee is supposed to review the lawmakers’ suggestions and gives feedbacks.
