Iran Khodro replaces pick-up trucks

Fifteen thousand old pick-up trucks in the urban transportation fleet will be replaced, for which the applicant will be granted 200 million IRR ($6220) financing.

Ali Fazeli, the Head of Iran’s Chamber of Trades, confirmed the news mentioning that the project has involved several organizations, namely: Central Bank, Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade, The Planning and Budget Organization, Iran’s Chamber of Trades, Iran Khodro Company, Transportation and Fuel Management Organization and the Police.

The conclusion was reached to renew 15 thousand pick-up trucks from the urban transportation fleet. The financing from banks was announced as 200 million IRR with %16 interest rates and 48 month installments per old pick-up truck.

Based on estimates, there are currently 30 thousand old such vehicles in use. However, at the moment Iran Khodro only has the ability to renew 15 thousand old pick-up trucks.

Hybrid (gasoline and CNG) Arisan Pick-ups and Tondar “L90” have been considered as the replacements for the old pick-ups and union members can replace their vehicles with 50 to 100 million IRR ($1550 to $3110).

Based on this plan, owners of 1 ton and lighter pick-up trucks which include Mazda and Paykan pick-ups can receive a 20 million IRR discount in return for proof of scraping and owners of heavier pick-up trucks are eligible for a 30 million IRR discount.
