Iran exports its largest shipment of tar from Persian Gulf Port

The country’s largest shipment of tar has been loaded onto a 9 thousand-ton ship for export at Persian Gulf Port in Hormozgan province.

“The ship Viveka weighing approximately 9 thousand tons, with a length of 125 meters and waterline of 7.5 meters was loaded at dock 57 of Persian Gulf port”, announced Mohammad Ali Asl Saidipour, Deputy Director of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime.

“The loading of tar shipment for export has taken 2 days. Up to now, tar was exported at this port with 5 ton ships and smaller, and this event has broken the record in the country’s biggest commercial port”, added Mr Saidipour.

Persian Gulf port is part of Shahid Rajayee Port Special Economic Zone, which is mainly used for oil products transportations. The opening of the port is effectively 100 meters and ships weighing a maximum of 12 thousand tons can move through its reservoir.

This port has been under use in the region since 2005 with the purpose of fueling, exportation, transit and petrochemical and oil swaps to neighboring countries.

The Persian Gulf port covers 320 hectares and its reservoirs hold 330 thousand cubic meters. It contains 9 berths of more than 1200 meter length with an average depth of 7.5 meters.

In the hinterlands of this port 40 hectares are being prepared for establishing reservoirs with a capacity of more than 1.5 million cubic meters and a small refinery.
