Iranian carpet weavers with or without social security?

Only 40% of the country’s carpet weavers are insured by the Social Services. The head of the National Carpet Center, Hamid Kargar, has said that one million people weave carpets professionally out of which 700 thousand work full time and 300 thousand work part time.

Even though the regulations for insuring carpet weavers and other hand craft professionals was passed by the parliament in 2009, up to now only 40% of carpet weavers are insured. Based on this law, 7% of insurance cost is to be paid by the weaver and 20% is to be paid by the government. Mr. Kargar cites the lack of cooperation from Omid Entrepreneurial Fund as the reason for the low number of people insured. The only condition for being insured for carpet weavers is holding an official skill certificate from a vocational training center.

Telegram voice call may or may not reach Iran?

Iran is one of the largest markets of Telegram, an instant messaging app. Although, Telegram has recently launched its audio service, but it is not clear whether it will be available in Iran as well. The reason is that mobile operators in Iran fear this new service would hit their income. Latest statistics released by Telegram show that there are 24 million users in Iran. Whatsapp call service is available in Iran (despite Dubai), as its subscribers in Iran remain at least 10 million less than those of telegram.

Ministry of ICT has left the operators and Telegram to reach an agreement on their own.

55% growth in the number of ATMs

Banking system in Iran is still not fully connected to the global system. But inside the country, it is developing further. Over the last four years, 15,000 new ATMs have been installed. Therefore, there are 70 ATMs for every 100,000 adults in Iran.

After lifting the sanctions, Wincor-Nixdorf, German corporation of banking hardware producer, decided to resume its activities in Iran. The merger with the American Diebold Inc. in 2016, kept it back. Although the return for Nixdorf seems to be easier, NCR still remains out of the market.
