Sunflower Beans: A Necessity for Footballno46

Nuts are popular among Iranians. One of the most beloved one is the roasted “sunflower beans”; there is also a particular occasion for it: it is essential when watching a football match!

But there is also another use for it and that is to produce vegetable oil. Although, Iranians cultivate plenty of sunflowers, still more than $65m of sunflower beans have been imported to the country.

This is while the Head of Nuts Producer Association wonders why a fruit like cashew nut which cannot be produced locally is banned to be imported but the sunflower beans with an inferior quality are free to be imported.


Renault Parts Produced in Iran

French carmaker, Renault, has launched the production of its gearboxes of JHQ models in Tabriz. According to Renault’s Africa and Middle East Director, Mr. Kargar, this is just the first step of transferring the know-how to Iran and this procedure will continue.

Currently Renault production capacity in Iran is about 200000 cars, which is going to be increased to 350000 cars in the next years.


Government Pays Its Debts Back

Minister of Energy of Iran has announced that his ministry has paid off 10000 billion IRR of its debts to its contractors. This is equivalent to $315m at official exchange rate.

The total debt of the Energy Ministry toward the contractors was about 32000 billion IRR ($1billion).

Issuing Islamic Treasury Bonds has helped the Government to pay its debts off. The bonds have been very much appreciated at the Over-The-Counter Market, Iran Farabourse, and the trend is growing.
