Credit line for Tehran – Mashhad railway

Donya-e-Eghtesad announces the opening of a 7.1 billion dollar credit line in order to finance the electric train line between Tehran and Mashhad. This contract between Sanaat and Madan (Industry and Mining) Bank of Iran and Exim Bank of China set a record for international cooperation which allowed for the signing of other financial contracts afterwards. Tehran, Mashhad is the busiest rail line in the country and is expected to support 35 million passengers and 10 million tons of cargo annually by 2032. This will make this railway one of the 10 busiest rail lines in the world. By modifying this line to become electric, which is expected to take 48 months, not only will the safety factor increase and pollution decrease, the duration of travel will also reach 4 to 6 hours.
