Airbus may take longer to deliver jets to Iran Air

Airbus confirms that Iran will receive the jets it has ordered after the nuclear deal, but it may takes longer as predicted, reporter Reuters.

European planemaker Airbus and its U.S. rival Boeing have agreed to sell a combined total of 180 jets to renew the aging fleet of state carrier IranAir. Reuters quotes the Airbus sales chief, John Leahy that the company might need to modify delivery schedule as the financing problem persists.

So far IranAir has taken delivery of three Airbus jets and a handful of turboprops built by its Franco-Italian affiliate ATR. However, Airbus’s export license from the U.S. Treasury will expire around 2020, indicating the need for renewal of permission to complete its planned deliveries to Iran.
