A prosperous year for Iranian tea cultivators

This spring time, the weather has been favorable for farmers, in particular for tea plantations. Lots of rain is the best news for them. The firs harvest period of tea in the north of Iran is just over. 39 thousand tones of tea leaves have been picked, showing 32% increase respect to the first harvest of a year ago.

The second harvest period will start on 25 June and lasts for five days. By the end of the season, Iranian tea cultivators hope to harvest up to 95 thousand tones of fresh leaves, from which 23 thousand tones of dried tea could be produced. Altogether 15% more production than last year.

In northern part of Iran, 22 thousand hectares are under tea plantation.
