A new record in railway expansion

The Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company (CDTIC) has announced that the speed of railway track laying has surpassed the speed of supplying the necessary equipment.
Confirming that the previous annual record for railway track laying was broken in the first 100 days of this year, Ali Zakery, Deputy of CDTIC, said: “Based on our statistics, so far, approximately 250 km of new railway tracks were annually laid. Meanwhile, this year the CDTIC has laid this amount of tracks in the first 100 days of the year.”
“The increased track laying speed has led to problems in the supply of some equipment such as paving equipment which are being used immediately upon delivery”, added Mr Zakery.
The Tehran-Hamedan railway has recently been completed and delivered. Two important projects underway by the government are the Kermanshah and Orumieh railways. Mr Zakeri announced these two projects as close to completion: “In the Kermanshah project, only 17 km of paving and track laying remain which we expect to complete in two weeks. The Orumieh railway has also progressed significantly, and track laying is being carried out in two directions. By completing the substructure in the remaining 10 km and completing paving operations, we can expect the operations on this railway to be completed by September 2017.”
