60% of Iranians are over-weight

According to the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, 60 percent of Iranians above 18 years old are over-weight. This is while the obesity among Iranian women is twice more often than among men.

Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death in Iran where obesity plays a very important role.

The world Health Organisation confirms the trend of obesity among Iranians. According to its latest report, 65 percent of Iranian women are over-weight and 32 percent of them suffer from excessive obesity. These figures among Iranian men are 58% and 19% respectively.

Main reasons for obesity are inappropriate food patterns and lack of daily movements.
